Gianna Marie – My Little Sunflower

My niece Gianna is now 2 years old (27 months to be more exact) and she is a little ball of sunshine. She’s happy just to be outside any time of day. She loves swimming in the pool, picking strawberries from the garden, cooking in her pretend kitchen, playing hide and peek (seek), and most recently…baking cookies with Auntie CC (that’s me :D). I just had to sneak in a small picture session during my impromptu 2 day visit to Phoenix.

See the whole set on my flickr!

Gianna Marie – 8 Months Old

Miss Gianna is turning 8 months this coming week, and is melting hearts by the minute! My niece is silly and loves to laugh! She is eager to get up and going, as if she might be just skipping the crawling phase and going straight into walking! Perhaps it’s all the bouncing she’s been doing in her jumpy jump! She was such a good little model (yet again) for her photos. Annnd her lashes are to die for! It was a short trip, but I can’t wait to see her again. More images on my Flickr!

Gianna Marie

This week I am in Arizona meeting my niece – Gianna Marie Goldstein – I am in love ❤ What a beautiful little princess! I feel as though it was just yesterday my sister told me (first :D) that she was pregnant! She had to have a c-section at full term, because the baby was breech (feet & booty first) and it wasn’t safe to go through with a regular delivery. Luckily, all went well with surgery, and both Mom & Baby are doing great! My sister and brother in-law are getting adjusted to their new lifestyle of little sleep and diaper runs. It’s very heartwarming to watch the two of them around the baby –so careful and attentive to her every little whimper and squeaky newborn resonant; ready to leap over the moon, and climb to the highest room of the tallest tower to keep her safe and sound.

Of course with my prior experience in newborn photography, I was BUSTING to get this little peanut in front of my lenses! Taking the last two days to play around with my new little photo subject, I came out with some of my most favorite images in newborn photography yet! I keep coming up with new idea’s and want to keep taking more and more photos–there will never be enough! Looking forward to all the fun days/months/years ahead, and many memories I will capture in my lifetime with my Godchild – Gianna ❤

Thanksgiving Traditions

I absolutely love the holidays, because of the amazing foods that have been traditionally compiled into the dinners my family makes every year. For the past few years I have not been “home” for the holidays…so I’ve been compelled to re-create the masterful recipes that my family has shared with me. And before you say it, I know I’m missing the mashed potatoes…I let one of my friends do that this year.

The best apple pie recipe from my cousin Gabrielle. Thick crust with me most perfect crisp to it. Don’t know how she perfected this, but it is delicious!

The Stuffing: A combination of delicious veggies, sausage, and breadcrumbs with Italian spices! This is Aunt Carol’s top secret, most notoriously delectable thanksgiving plate of goodness. Never have I tasted a stuffing recipe so wonderful…it leaves you craving it all year round, and is the first thing you’ll finish of all the leftovers.

Sweet Potatoes: This was my Grandmother Candida’s recipe. She makes them with maple syrup! I have never tried the sweet potatoes with the marshmallow topping…and how could I when this one is just too perfect!? (sprinkle brown sugar on the top for extra goodness!)

Green Beans: Got to have these on your thanksgiving table! boiled and sauteed with garlic in olive oil. Simple and tasty!

We dried out the wishbone, but looks like I didn’t get the wish this year!

Maternity Photography : Photographing My Sister

When I think of maternity photos, I make a face that’s kind of like what a sad clown looks like with my jaw clenched shut and my teeth exposed…and the reason being, is because most of the time…okay pretty much all of the time, you see the most horrible looking display of what could be a beautiful thing. There are so many awful maternity photos that I’ve seen through my experience, that it just scares me to think people don’t know any better, or look for something more interesting…something worth putting up on your wall and appreciating. Even some of the Mommy/Daddy maternity photos are scarring to the eye…with the studio lighting black and white with the pink (or blue) ribbon wrapped around Mom’s belly and in color (This doesn’t look good! Photographers, please stop doing this!) I digress…anyways, I took photos of my beautiful sister who is nearing her 28 weeks of pregnancy. I started to edit the photos and fell in love with what I came out with.

The Gomez Family

Here’s a few shots of the family session I did a few weeks ago! The Gomez Family. The kids were lots of fun! Originally, my client said, no funny face photos…but the kids requested, and I couldn’t resist! Let the kids be kids! My client will be really happy to see her grandkids smiling and laughing in these photos, being their silly selfs!
